CHARLIE FRANKS

Charlie Franks graduated from California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Architecture. He has taken extensive coursework in Fine Art and continually pursues this passion. Charlie has been a practicing licensed architect for 36 years.

The firm’s two principals, Charlie Franks and Brett Brenkwitz, are both project architects that oversee the growth of each phase while providing hands-on management. Charlie and Brett began their partnership in 1994 and have worked on many projects local to Santa Cruz County, with their work spanning down to Monterey and Carmel California. 

The firm specializes in high-end residential projects, as well as historical preservation and church work. Currently, the firm is undertaking a historical preservation project at the 3 California Missions, and is in the process of completing several custom homes. 

From seismic retrofitting an invaluable religious structure to designing the perfect ocean view home, Franks & Brenkwitz put their years of experience to work for their clients resulting in beautiful functional design, efficient project and deadline management, and above all else – happy clients. 

Brett and Charlie are both licensed architects and active members the Associated Architects of Santa Cruz County.

BRETT BRENKWITZ

Brett Brenkwitz received his undergraduate degree in Architectural Studies at the University of California at Santa Cruz. He then graduated with his Masters of Architecture at the University of New Mexico. Brett served on the City of Capitola Master Plan Advisory Committee for 5 years. Brett also spent 26 years as a licensed general building contractor. He has been a licensed practicing architect for the past 23 years.
